Project Opportunity AmeriCorps *State

This position is responsible for bringing Girl Scout programming to under-served girls who may be struggling academically and socially through the Project Opportunity Outreach program in Aurora and Elgin. There is a living allowance and Education Award associated with the status of the full-time membership. AmeriCorps Members will facilitate programming based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) programming in weekly, hour-long sessions. This programming will help girls develop a strong sense of self and improve academic attitudes through activities including life skills, S.T.E.M., career exploration and healthy relationships. As a member you will also help plan and prepare programming, identify additional populations of under-served girls, identify partners and connect with them for collaborations and recruit new volunteers from local communities to help.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
